Wow?
So what was that wow all about there Kelley? Was that a "Wow, you sure get a lot of extra stuff for not a whole lot of money!" wow? Or was that a, "Wow! Sony limits my options and is forcing me to buy lame crap like a cleaning cloth and is basically admitting that you NEED a battery pack to play this fucker and you NEED a soft case to keep the screen from getting damaged." wow? Guess what my reaction was.
Also, my reaction to the news that you were thinking about getting one of those "Sexy slimmed down" PS2s? Are you a fucking idiot? Sony sells you a piece of shit that breaks down and your response is to buy a shinier piece of shit from them? The new PS2, much like the PSP, reveals Sony's new design philosophy: form over functionality. Or: who cares if it works, as long as it looks good. The new PS2 takes out the hard drive. You can't play Final Fantasy XI on it, and this shows how committed Sony is to the online arena. You've heard Kutaragi, they designed the PSP to be faulty on purpose. They could have made it bigger, or taken a fraction of the screen space away, but they didn't. They made the square button less responsive instead. Who care if you can play the games, as long as they look good.
I went and retried the PSP. If you look for it, it's really easy to see that the square button is smaller and slightly out of line with the other three. Plus it does feel different. Less springy. It didn't stick on me, but I can see how that could become a problem. And Sony built it that way on purpose. You want to support that? I'm not saying that you shouldn't buy Sony stuff. I'm saying why spend more money on another PS2 when you know the PS3 is going to be out in around a year? Not that you should buy one of those at launch. Just wait, man. There's plenty of games for the other systems you can play. And when you finally do get the PS3, all those PS2 games you missed will be way cheaper. That's just my opinion of course.
I'm also interested in seeing what the Spiderman 2 movie is going to be like. Will it look fantastic and not have a lot of extras or will it try to have as many extras as the DVD and take a hit in the visual quality department?
