Strength In Dream Numbers

On 09/09/99 gamers rushed to stores to purchase in what my opinion was the greatest console ever made. The Sega Dreamcast launched in North America that cool September day with an army of great titles, showing off it's impressive technology.

Those who purchased the Dreamcast itself, weren't given just a piece of hardware. Inside a great demo disc entitled The Generator showcased Sonic Adventure, Power Stone and several other next-gen titles. Not only that, an internet web browser provided by PlanetWeb and Sega would get DC users online and start building the DC community as we know it today.

For the last 5 years, PlanetWeb's website provided DC surfers and fans a central hub of tools and files for the system. Imagine that. Half a decade of support for a system that only lasted 2 years in North America. It proves that a community can keep the dream alive.

Then the inevitable occured. Just 3 Months ago, PlanetWeb finaly decided to shut down North America DC media site. It was one of those final nails in the coffin. It sucked from my StuffsRadio perspective cause I've mainted Tyler's and I's http://stuffsradio.tripod.com as DC compatible. It's one of those little things I can do to contribute to the community.

Then unexpectedly... Something happened.

There are moments like these that show that there are bright spots in the gaming community. That even with power mad companies like EA purchasing companies/properties, limiting choices and laying off employees, there is still some good out there.

You see as of today, that being JANUARY 30, 2005 thanks to the enormous responce from the DC community PlanetWeb is back online! You see people can make a difference.

This is fantastic news! With homebrewed titles growing, great emulators hitting the console and Sega still publishing titles for the aging system in Japan, the DC still has a long life ahead.

The Dreamcast site can be accessed here - http://dreamcast.planetweb.com/

Thanks PlanetWeb for keeping the dream alive!
