Happy Feelings!

On October 18th, 1985, a test marketing campaign began for the console that would revolutionize the video game industry. New York City residents had the opportunity to purchase the Nintendo Entertainment System released by Mattel. That was 20 years ago... Man I'm gettin' old.

It wouldn't be until February 2006 that the system would sell across North America. 2 bundles would hit the storeshelves. One included Super Mario Bros. and 2 controllers. The 2nd would include the mentioned alongside ROB the crappy robot, the light gun, Gyromite and Duck Hunt. That bundle was worth it for Duck Hunt and the light gun alone.

The NES was a huge part of growing up. Contra, Super Mario's Bros. 1-3, TMNT 1-3, Castlevania, Pro Wrestling, Dragon Warrior, Zelda's 1 & 2. So many happy memories.

It was pretty sweet last year when Nintendo released the NES theme GBA alongside a retro-line of cool titles such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and Castlevania. It was great to relive that nostalgia once again.

Makes me wonder if Nintendo of Canada/America will have any kind of celebration this coming February for the official 20th anniversary of the NES? I hope so.
