Beware The Future
Back in mid-November 2002, I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new Tom Clancy franchise. Splinter Cell, developed by Ubisoft Montreal was groundbreaking in terms of graphics, sound and playability. Today the series has taken the crown of "King of Stealth Action" from Hideo kojima's beloved Metal Gear series.
Last game in the Metal Gear universe, you played as daddy Snake in the 1960's battling rocket packed cosmonauts and maniac illusionists. Okay, I shouldn't be pocking a little fun at the Metal gear series storylines. They are the best narrative told stories this side of celluloid. Would someone please just get Kojima to write and direct a 200 million dollar co-produced North American-Japanese Metal Gear movie! I mean it! The man is a master storyteller. There are moments in his games when you get scared shitless, laugh and *sniff* cry. Alas, I found Metal Gear Solid 3: The Sons of Liberty a tad difficult to play, confined by your allowed perspective. Since the beginning of Metal Gear, you were always treated to a fixed camera angle with minimal manipulation. This worked great for the first two Metal Gear Solid games, for you were in corridors or enclosed enviroments and the camera allowed you the best possible angle of vision. In MGS3, the "over the top" camera just didn't cut it for huge open forrest environments. So it is with great admiration that in March 2006, Metal Gear Solid 3: Substance will be released with a borrowed "free camera" from Splinter Cell. The "free camera" is one you are able to manipulate in realtime and position it anywhere.
Back to Splinter Cell, ya that series is da bomb. Sam Fisher is the ultimate badass and last year's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a masterpiece. In spring 2006, we're anticipating his return with another Clancy like storytelling extravaganza. In Splinter Cell: Double Agent Sam Fisher's daughter is killed in a tragic accident. Since Sam has nothing to loose, he infiltrates a terriorist organization and this is were the player begins to map out the future of our tragic hero. You get to recreate Sam Fisher into the ultimate NSA "Splinter Cell" agent by doing what's right or from the ashes do what's very wrong and become a bad ass. Holy shit! This game is going to rock you hard!

Finaly, notice how Tyler hasn't posted here in awhile? Well he was back here in Canada for a few weeks and was totaly schooled by me. Yes, in Mario Kart DS I destroyed him and Kathy. I won too many races to count. I won that gold trophy atleast a dozen times. You see, he hasn't even connected to Nintendo's Wi-Fi Network yet because he's afraid of me.
Cheers!
