A Couple of Weeks With The 3DS
If you can wait, then wait.
There ya go. That's my opinion of the 3DS. Honestly, there ain't a lot of games out there for it. There are however, some solid ports of familiar franchises.
Yes, Street Fighter IV is pretty bitchin'. Ridge Racer 3DS is awesome. Ghost Recon is cool stuff. Madden... is well a bare bones version of Madden but in 3D.
You could probably wait for Link and Snake's arrival to purchase the handheld.
When it comes to tech however, the 3D works amazing. It really kicks butt. The graphics are gorgeous. The first time you experience the 3D is, as Apple would call it, magical.
Disappointments...
Besides a less than stellar launch, which no one was surprised about. Well okay, maybe we were a bit surprised that neither a Mario or Zelda title launched. Bummer. I really do mean that.
The big disappointment for me was the lack of anything new in ways of game control.
Everything from the DSi has been brought over here to enjoy with the addition of an analog nub. Nintendo fans are so delighted with the analog nub, that no one seems to remember that Sony introduced this to handhelds over 6 years ago with their PSP line.
However, it's that back track pad on the upcoming Sony NGP that has me really excited. To me, that reminds of old'school Nintendo coming out with some kinda new whacky control and then proving something great with it.
