The iPod of The Video Game World
When Apple introduced the iPod, it stole the Walkman market from Sony. Never before had a piece hardware broke the barriers of geekdom and entered the mainstream. The iPod is small, stylish, beautiful and damned cool. Even with it's latest incarnation, able to stream video, Apple's focus is always there - It's the best damned music player on the market. Period.
This idea has always been a part of Nintendo's. We focus on games. We make game hardware. If you wanna play the best games, then get yourself a piece of Nintendo hardware.
When Nintendo introduced the GBA Micro, it was a step in the right direction. The hardware design was simplified, tiny and cute. The screen realy kicks ass, brighter than the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. With the release of the newly streamlined GBA, we had a feeling that the same would happen to the DS. Yesterday, it was fully realized.
The Nintendo DS Lite is beautiful. It screams simplicity, beauty and just flat out coolness. Sales of the original system have been strong, attracting old and new gamers alike. The new design is going to be monsterous, attracting new gamers and kicking ass at the retail chains.
With the soon to be released Metroid Prime Hunters, it's going to attact the hardcore frag'em gamers on the DS and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Network. With Tetris DS being released the same day as Hunters (March 20, 2006), it's going to attract the casual and new gamers to the system and online network.
Once you own a DS Lite, it'll just make you hungry for the Revolution that will be soon apon us.
Or... are we already there?
